Steven R. Schultz

Steven R. Schultz, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on August 9, 2026, in Middletown, NY, at the age of 66. Born on August 30, 1959, in Newark, NJ, Steve lived a life rich with passion, dedication, and warmth, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Steve went on to pursue his culinary dreams at the esteemed Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. As an Executive Chef, Steve began his career at Bear Mountain Inn in New York. He later was a partner of InnCredible Caters and then went on to own and operate the restaurant, Chalet on the Hudson. For over twenty-five years, he excelled as a travelling executive chef for the FLIK Hospitality Group, working in diverse locations throughout the United States and making lasting impressions wherever he went.

Among some of his accomplishments was having the honor of cooking for renowned personalities, including Helen Hayes and Lady Bird Johnson, a testament to both his skill and professionalism. He always made sure people had food in their stomach and smiles on their faces.

Steve's smile was brilliant and constant. Always quick with a joke and known as a bit of a prankster in his youth, he enjoyed making others laugh and bringing joy wherever he went. He was a wonderful friend, brother, son and uncle, bringing the kind of loyalty and love to every relationship that people spend their entire lives searching for. A true empath at heart, he had a great amount of warmth and concern for those around him.

Steve’s life was enriched by the love and presence of his family. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Theresa (Walker) Schultz; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph & Carol Schultz; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and David Fabiano and Terri & Timothy Alles; as well as his nieces, Jennifer & Filberto Martinez, Amanda & Christopher Montes, Jessica & Jesse Johnson, and Danielle Fabiano, and great- niece Vera and great-nephews, Brock and Maxim. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Schultz in 2021, whose memory Steve carried in his heart. Steve was also a lover of animals, cherishing the companionship of his beloved Great Dane, Sophie, and his cat, Jeffrey.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the viewing, scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St, Flemington, NJ 08822. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
