Robert Stanley Bird

Robert Stanley Bird, a lifelong Hunterdon County resident, passed away on July 23, 2026 in Hillsborough. Born November 7, 1934 in Ringoes NJ, son of the late Lewis Stanley and Bertha (Niece) Bird, he was raised in Rosemont and lived for the last 63 years in Delaware Township NJ.

After high school, Robert travelled the recently finished Alcon Highway in Alaska where he spent a summer working on a farm.

Robert served in the United States Army, Security Agency as a Crypt Analytic Specialist in Sinop Turkey. He worked for the Nj State Department of Agriculture as a carpenter and shop supervisor when he retired.

During his life, Robert was a member of the Sergeantsville Fire Company and served on the Delaware Township School Board for many years. He was also a member of the Delaware Township Historical Society.

As a lifelong member of the Stockton Presbyterian Church, he viewed fellow members as an extended family, and served as the Assistant Treasurer, an Elder, Deacon and sang in the church choir.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judith Bodine Bird, his son, Patrick Owen Bird, his daughter, Tamara Bird Aug and her husband, Robert, grandsons, Ryan and Ben Aug, as well as his sister, Elizabeth Fleming and her children, niece Sondra Zavaglia and her husband Jim, nephews Edward Fleming and his wife, Barbara, Scott Fleming and his wife, Margaret, Bruce Fleming and his wife, Kimi, James Fleming and his wife, Kim, niece Cindy Bodine and nephew, Kevin Bodine.

Funeral services for Robert with Military Honors, will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Stockton Presbyterian Church, 22 S Main St, Stockton, NJ 08559. After the service, there will be a gathering time with light refreshments at the church until 3:00 pm followed by interment in Rosemont Cemetery.
