Lewis Stanley Bird

February 27, 1910 — November 25, 1992

L. Stanley Bird, 82, of Rosemont, died November 25, 1992 at Hunterdon Convalescent Center, Raritan.

Born in Stockton, he had resided in Rosemont for 50 years.

Mr. Bird retired from the New Jersey Department of Transportation in 1975 where he was employed as a construction inspector. Prior to that, he was farm manager at Wolcester Orchards, Stockton, for 30 years.

He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stockton, serving for many years as an elder, trustee, deacon, and Sunday school superintendent. He had also served for many years on the Delaware Township Board of Education and was involved with Boy Scout Troop 124 of Stockton.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Niece Bird; a daughter, Elizabeth Fleming of Delaware; a son, Robert Bird of Delaware; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were private and under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington.

Interment was in Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Delaware.
