Virginia W. Shaub, affectionately known as Ginny, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Flemington, New Jersey, at the age of 89. Born on April 11, 1936, in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Ginny was a vibrant individual whose life was marked by her dedication to family, her successful career, and her diverse range of interests.
Ginny graduated from Columbia High School in Pennsylvania, proudly earning her diploma in the Class of 1954. In 1968, she relocated to Flemington when her former husband was transferred for work. Throughout her life, Ginny made significant contributions to her community. She worked as a school bus driver and once owned a print shop in Flemington before dedicating her later years to working at Hunterdon Medical Center. She retired from her job in Medical Records at the age of 83.
In addition to her professional life, Ginny was a talented artist, skilled in oil and watercolor painting. Her creativity extended to crafting, where she excelled at crocheting and sewing, and she took pride in caring for her yard. Music was a significant part of her life as well; she played the piano and tenor saxophone during her high school years and served as church organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Flemington.
Ginny enjoyed traveling and had a particular fondness for taking cruises, creating cherished memories with her family and friends. She was an avid bridge player, regularly engaging with local bridge groups which brought her joy and camaraderie.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sonia and Jim Zidzik of Leonardtown, MD, and Mindy and Rick DeRosa of Palm Bay, FL, and her grandsons Nick Zidzik and R.J. DeRosa. Ginny also leaves behind her former husband, Danny D. Shaub, her former brother-in-law, Richard Webb, and her step-brother, James Wise.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Darren R. Shaub, and her brother Mervin D. Wise, Jr., as well as her parents, Mervin David Wise, Sr. and Dorothy Mary (Barley) Wise.
A memorial service in honor of Virginia W. Shaub will take place on November 13, 2025, at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington, New Jersey, beginning at 4:00 PM, followed by a gathering with food and refreshments at the funeral home. Ginny's life was full of love, creativity, and dedication; she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
