Todd H. Leutholt, 84, of Flemington passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center following a short, but courageous battle with cancer. As throughout his life, he approached this challenge with hope, faith, and perseverance.
Todd was born on October 17, 1941, in Balmville, New York to Henry and Elizabeth (Elmendorf) Leutholt. He spent his childhood years in Newburgh, NY, Toledo, OH, and ultimately Mt. Lebanon, PA. After high school, he attended Fairmont College and then East Tennessee State University, where from he graduated in 1963. It was at ETSU where he met his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Dugger) Leutholt. After college, Todd and Barbara lived in Chattanooga, TN, Peapack and Somerville, NJ before settling down in the Flemington area in 1977. Todd worked for Mutual Benefit Life insurance company for 25 years, followed by another 10 years of computer consulting in the banking and insurance industries. He and his wife had the good fortune of traveling together to many interesting locations around the world.
Todd was a man of deep integrity, honesty and humility and he valued these characteristics in others. He is survived by his wife Barbara and son Todd H. Leutholt, Jr. and his wife Stacee of Great Meadows, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Henry “Hal” Leutholt of Rock Springs, Georgia. His love for others, starting with his family near and far, was deep, and extended to his friends. His willingness to help and be of service to others was never in doubt for those who knew him.
An avid outdoorsman Todd could often be found tending to his yard, house or helping his son with various house projects and testing his self-discipline during a round of golf. Todd really enjoyed his annual ski vacations with his son and friends (most recently at the ripe age of 83!) and was a member of several NJ ski clubs. A lifelong hunter and shooter, he was a member of the Grouse Hall Gun Club and could often be found shooting a round or two of sporting clays with friends.
Please join the family at a remembrance of Todd on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. The visitation will be followed by a short memorial service starting at 4 PM.
While not an active member of any religious denomination, Todd was spiritually aware and believed firmly in a higher power.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you to consider a donation in Todd’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org) or by clicking the link below, to help serve the needs of children and families during cancer treatment.
