Theodora Barbara Kutcha, age 87, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, at Independence Manor in Raritan Township NJ.
Born November 11, 1936 in Summit NJ, Theodora was the daughter of the late Oswald Theodore and Helen (Beyer) Bakker. She was a graduate of Summit High School and lived in Scotch Plains, NJ where she raised her family, retired to Toms River, NJ and eventually moved to Independence Manor to be closer to her family.
The youngest of five sisters, she met her future husband, Walter Kutcha in kindergarten and the two were married in 1958. Teddy and Walt enjoyed traveling to several international and domestic destinations and spending fun times with their numerous friends. They shared many happy moments watching beautiful sunsets at Island Beach State Park or taking in a concert on the beach in Point Pleasant, NJ.
At one time, Teddy attended the Pinelands Reformed Church where she was an usher, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered her time to help at many church bazaars and bake sales.
Teddy took great pride in her home, loved to cook and bake and was the happiest when spending time at home with her family.
In addition to her parents, Theodora was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Lee, Hilary Hanger, and Dorothy Hogan, and her husband, Walter V. Kutcha in 2009. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Bobbe Kutcha of Midland Park NJ, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Daniel Schuster of Flemington NJ, her grandsons, Griffin (Courtney) Kutcha, Brad Kutcha, Daniel T. (Micayla) Schuster, and Matthew K. Schuster, her great grandson, Caden, and her sister, Ruth Smozanek of Port St. Lucie FL.
A memorial service for Teddy will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will be private at a later date. Friends may gather on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Teddy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
