Terry Dale Houseworth, a devoted family man, proud Marine, and respected heavy equipment mechanic, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township, New Jersey. He was 89 years old. He was born on April 7, 1936, in Bridgeton Township, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Dale V. and Josephine Nellie (Burger) Houseworth, and spent his formative years in Tinicum Township, Pennsylvania.
Terry's early life was marked by a strong sense of duty and service. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps with his parents' approval, embarking on a remarkable journey that would span a decade. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune and had the opportunity to serve in various locations including France, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Italy. His military service earned him the respect of many, as he received the USMC sharpshooter medal while serving his country.
After his time in the military, Terry embarked on a successful career as a heavy equipment mechanic. He dedicated 22 years to Foley's and 15 years to Trap Rock Industries, specializing exclusively in Caterpillar machinery. His expertise on “Cat” equipment made him a respected figure in the industry, known for his hard work and commitment to excellence. Terry's tenacity and work ethic extended beyond his professional life; he believed in the value of hard work and did not respect laziness in others.
In addition to his career, Terry cherished his time spent with family and on his son's farm, where he helped with cutting firewood and bailing hay. He was passionate about the outdoors, enjoying hunting and taking pride in maintaining a beautifully manicured lawn. His love for automobiles, particularly his beloved 1956 Thunderbird, was well-known among friends and family alike.
Terry's personality was characterized by his big heart; he was always quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a remarkable father, devoting immense love and care to his three children: Cindy Houseworth (Michael Riccardi) of North Carolina, Terry Houseworth (Cindie) of Frenchtown, NJ, and Dale Houseworth (Wilma) of Ringoes, NJ. He was a proud PopPop and Poppy to nine grandchildren: Taylor Mooney (Thomas), Derek Pauletta (Erin), Desiree Kennedy, Nico DiMarcantonio, Shawn Houseworth (Carly), Megan DiMarcantonio, Matthew Houseworth, Alicia Ambrosia (Michael), and Russell Houseworth (Chelsea). His legacy continues through his eight great-grandchildren: Logan Mooney, Harper Kennedy, Hudson Kennedy, Luca DiMarcantonio, Paige Houseworth, Lucas Ambrosia, Allyson Houseworth, and Liam Houseworth.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Peggy Gross and Ethel Stahley, who have all left cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
