Stephen R. Roth, age 70 years, a dedicated businessman and lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home on Lake George in Hague, New York. Born on October 5, 1955, and raised in Flemington, NJ, he was the son of the late August S. Roth and Mary N. (Everitt) Roth.
Steve’s career began early in life with Mannon Excavating & Paving Company, where he started as a teenager cutting grass before advancing to become a dispatcher for oil and gas products in 1979. After being a dedicated employee there for decades, he acquired R & H Truck Parts & Service in 2006, ultimately purchasing the entire property in 2016. After years of dedicated service and ownership, he sold the business and retired in 2019.
Educationally, Steve was a 1974 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School. He furthered his studies by earning a bachelor's degree from Rider University in 1978, which laid a solid foundation for his professional achievements.
Steve’s deep connection to Lake George was a defining aspect of his life. Having vacationed there since the age of four, he cherished their second home in Hague, New York—a place that brought him immense joy and peace.
A committed member of his community, Steve was a lifelong member of the Flemington Baptist Church. He served in numerous capacities within the church and held the position of head trustee at the time of his passing. Furthermore, he contributed his leadership skills as the treasurer on the board of the Union Cemetery Association in Ringoes, NJ.
Steve is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl "Cheri" A. (Wintermute) Roth, of Sergeantsville, NJ, and their beloved Shih Tzu, Olivia. He is also survived by his sisters, Sheryl "Sherri" Clark of Robbinsville, NJ, and Sandra Roth of Flemington, NJ, along with several nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and his two beloved nieces, Brooke and Claire Weyand.
