Delaware Township, NJ

Stephanie Joanne Chiappa, née Weed, passed away on October 15, 2026, in Delaware Township, New Jersey. She was born on July 25, 1955, in Denver, Colorado.

During her childhood, Stephanie lived in many places across the United States with her family, experiences that became part of the broad and engaged way she moved through life.

She built a long and dedicated career in banking, working for more than 30 years, primarily as a Branch Manager for several banks in the Hunterdon County area. She also owned & operated Sandbrook Antiques for many years, where she bought and sold many precious pieces. Her professional life reflected both steadiness and a keen eye for value and beauty.

Outside of work, Stephanie found joy in the things that made a house and a life feel warm and welcoming. She loved to cook and was known for enjoying the preparation of a good meal. She also treasured time spent reading a favorite romance novel. Among her happiest memories were travels with her mother to antique shows and visits with family in Florida and Georgia and North Carolina, combining her love of family, adventure, and antiques.

Stephanie shared 45 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, John Chiappa. She is also survived by her daughter, Stephanie Papanestor, and son-in-law, Peter Papanestor, along with her three grandchildren: Caitlyn, Aida, and Des.

Her love extends to her niece, Joanne Grant, and her husband, Duncan, along with her grand-nephews, Knox and Rowan; as well as her nephew, Jason Courounis, and his wife, Christina, along with her grand-nieces Evelyn, Adeline & Vivian and grand-nephew Ethan. Those who knew Stephanie will remember her warmth, her love, her unique passions, and the beautiful life she built with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dyer Darling Weed Jr.; her mother, Zenaide (Abare) Weed; her sisters, Sharon Courounis and June Langley; and her brother, Dyer Darling Weed III.

A memorial gathering is being planned for a later date. Please check this webpage for further information.

Stephanie will be remembered with affection and gratitude by those who loved her, and her memory will remain a lasting presence in the lives of her family and friends.
