Scott J. Ragatz

Scott James Ragatz, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, New Jersey. Born on February 1, 1962, Scott lived a life rich with passion, dedication, and love.

A proud graduate of the University of Connecticut in 1985, Scott built a successful career with Empire/Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield where he worked for nearly 30-years and led Empire’s downstate Special Accounts Team which works with large local group clients in New York and where he showcased his talents and commitment. His professionalism and dedication were hallmarks of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Scott’s warm spirit extended beyond his career. He was an avid traveler where he and his wife created unforgettable memories and was a passionate fan of the UConn Huskies, the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Mets. Many cherished memories were born from watching games with his children and from afternoons spent outside by his pool, enjoying the sunshine and laughter that accompanied time shared with family and friends grilling, smoking meat on his Trager, and pouring beer from his pavilion tap. His passion for life was further enriched by visiting micro-breweries and by playing golf on some of the best courses in the country.

Scott was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife of 39-years—LeeAnne Ragatz—and their three children of whom he proudly spoke: Zachary Ragatz of New York City, New York; Samantha Driskill and her husband, Patrick, of Somerville, New Jersey; and Ethan Ragatz of Ringoes, New Jersey. He was also deeply cherished by his parents, Donald T. Ragatz and Irene Lechner Ragatz of Danbury, Connecticut. Scott's feline companions, Tater and Tot, added endless joy to his days, showcasing his caring nature.

His life will be celebrated with visitation on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home located at 147 Main Street, Flemington, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, New Jersey. Burial will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, New Jersey.
