Roger W. Brengel

March 27, 1943 — May 25, 2026

Green Brook, NJ

Roger W. Brengel, a loving father and grandfather, respected professional, and avid outdoor enthusiast, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Green Brook, New Jersey. Born on March 27, 1943, in Queens, New York, Roger lived a life distinguished by his dedication to family, career, and the many pursuits that enriched his days.

Roger’s formative years were spent in Roselle, NJ, where he completed his high school education as a member of the Class of 1961 at Roselle High School. Over the years, he called several New Jersey communities home—including Bradley Gardens, North Plainfield, Whitehouse Station, Readington Township, Flemington—and ultimately settled in Green Brook, NJ. He built a rewarding career at Union Carbide in Piscataway, New Jersey, retiring as Plant Manager, a testament to his strong work ethic and leadership qualities.

Roger’s interests and hobbies were as diverse as they were passionate. A big fan of sports, he loyally cheered for the New York Giants and the New York Mets. His enthusiasm extended to physical activities including competitive cycling with various groups, bow hunting in Hunterdon County, tennis, and the traditional archery craft in which he not only practiced but also made his own arrows. Additionally, his fond memories of roller-skating at the Frenchtown Roller Rink reflect the joyful and playful spirit he carried throughout his life.

He held a deep appreciation for the natural world, often recalling moments spent at the beach—particularly Hampton Bays on Long Island, where he enjoyed time by the ocean with his parents. Roger was also intrigued by the  beauty of Alaska, a place that sparked his admiration. Musically, his tastes were varied but he held a special fondness for the songs of George Strait.

Roger treasured the time spent with his eleven grandchildren, creating memories that his family will cherish forever. His love for family was evident in his close relationships with his children: Jeff and Lisa Brengel of Lutz, Florida; Chris and Maggie Brengel of Fairfax County, Virginia; Greg and Laura Brengel of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Ashley Brengel and his sons and daughters-in-law, Austin and Lindsey Brengel and Cody and Mary Brengel all of Flemington NJ. He was also a proud grandfather to Hayley, Ryan, Hayden, Hunter, Addison, Gregory Jr., Paige, Alasondra, Mylah, Lucy, and Lilah. He also maintained strong bonds with his brother Wayne and sister-in-law Tamara Brengel of Lambertville, New Jersey.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved parents, William and Marie (Harder) Brengel, and his former wife, Linda Sue (Steffan) Brengel. He is survived by his former wife,  Deborah Koch, mother to his children Ashley, Austin and Cody.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor Roger’s life at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, located at 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822, with visitation commencing at 1:00 PM on June 5, 2026.
