Richard P. Siano

Richard “Dick” Siano, age 87, passed away on January 22, 2026.

Richard was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, where at an early age he received a birthday gift from his father—a ride in an airplane—sparking a lifelong passion that would define both his life and career.

He graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Technology and began his professional career as a project engineer with Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven, PA, helping to shape the future of private aviation.

In 1964, Richard was hired by Trans World Airlines (TWA), where he embarked on a distinguished airline career spanning more than three decades. He retired from TWA in 1998 as a Boeing 747 Captain, a role that reflected both his skill and respect for the responsibility of flight.

Richard continued flying with NetJets, piloting the Hawker 1000. He concluded his remarkable career as a pilot and instructor with FlightSafety International, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with the next generation of aviators.

Throughout his life, Richard was deeply passionate about private aviation and was always eager to share his love of flying. As an instructor, he introduced countless people to the joy and wonder of being in the air, leaving a lasting impression on both his students and those adventurous enough to climb aboard.

Richard is survived by two sons, Tadd and Erik. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Troy. He is also survived by his sisters, Regina, Dana, Barbra, Janet, and Polly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don, and sister, Patty.
