Richard W. Macomber, born on November 30, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, passed away on February 26, 2026, in Morristown, New Jersey. Throughout his long and meaningful life, Richard made extraordinary contributions personally, professionally, and within every community he called home. His legacy of service, leadership, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Richard graduated from the City College of New York - Bernard Baruch School with a bachelors degree in business, and later earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from New York University with a concentration in logistics. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a logistics executive at IBM, where his expertise, guidance, and work ethic earned the respect of colleagues across the organization. Richard served as Chairman of the National Industrial Transportation League and as the working group member of the US Commercial Operations of the Customs Service, advisors to the US Treasury Advisory Committee.

Richard grew up in New York City, and lived in several places throughout his life, including Franklin Township (Somerset County), New Jersey; Brookfield Center, Connecticut; Stockton (Delaware Township), New Jersey; Mead, Colorado, before returning home to Stockton. During his time in Mead, he served as the Mayor of Mead, participated on the Mead Planning Board, and was actively involved in the Mead Recreational Department. He also volunteered at Longmont United Hospital alongside his beloved wife, Mary.

Richard’s dedication to public service started prior to his move to Colorado and continued after his move back to New Jersey. He served nine years on the Delaware Township Committee, including roles on the Planning Board, Police Commissioner, and, ultimately, Mayor of Delaware Township. He was a devoted member of the Delaware Township Fire Company, where he served as President, and he contributed to community safety as Captain of the Stockton Rescue Squad.

Richard was also deeply committed to volunteer work beyond civic service. He spent time volunteering at Hunterdon Medical Center and was an active member of St. Magdalen de Pazzi Church, where he found friendship, faith, and community. He participated in the Delaware Township Seniors and the St. Ann and Joachim Senior Citizen Group, and he further supported local needs through his involvement with Hope House and the Knights of Columbus.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Richard carried the values of service, discipline, and honor with him throughout every chapter of his life.

Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Elizabeth Calamito of Stockton, NJ; Allison Cyr and her husband Mark of Blairstown, NJ; and Christine Reilly and her husband Thomas of Bloomsbury, NJ. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren—Amanda Calamito‑Harper and her husband Tyler Harper, Nathan Reilly, Michael Reilly, and Mackenzie Camacho and her husband Santiago—as well as two great‑grandchildren, Mace Cyr and Leonardo Camacho. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Wallace Macomber and Beatrice Warburton Macomber, his devoted wife, Mary G. Macomber, and his brother, W. David Macomber.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard’s life during visitation at Holcombe‑Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington, NJ, on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, with interment to follow at St. Magdalen Cemetery.

Richard W. Macomber will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his commitment to community and public service, and his deep love of country. His generosity of spirit and the impact of his service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
