Raymond Louis Giordano

Raymond Louis Giordano, 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, sharp intellect, and a long life well-lived.

Born on December 9, 1934, Raymond grew up in New Jersey and was a proud 1953 graduate of Barringer High School in Newark. Following high school, Raymond honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He then pursued his passion for problem-solving and technology, graduating from the Newark College of Engineering in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). During his undergraduate years, he also became a member of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity in 1954. Demonstrating a continuous commitment to excellence and learning, Raymond went on to earn his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1964.

Raymond channeled his formidable intellect into a distinguished engineering career that spanned over 50 years. He contributed his expertise to vital Department of Defense Air Force technology projects and worked with some of the country’s most prestigious technology and defense corporations, including RCA, General Electric, Intersil, and Harris Corporation. At RCA, he rose to the prestigious rank of Senior Member of the Technical Staff and shared his vast knowledge by teaching in-house engineering courses to his peers.

Over the course of his brilliant career, Raymond was responsible for several patents. His innovative designs included a smoke detector chip for Siemens, a speed control chip for Ford, an engine control for Delco, and a pre-driver for Chrysler. He also designed the intricate circuitry for the Kodak Cameo camera and the Kodak laser driver printer, as well as a digital differential analyzer related to logic for a video formatter for RCA’s Missile and Surface Radar Division. His dedication to his field was underscored by his long-standing professional standing as a Senior Life Member of the IEEE, an institution he proudly belonged to since 1963. He carried a steadfast work ethic and lifelong integrity into everything he did.

Earlier in his life, Raymond enjoyed a good round of golf or bowling. A true football enthusiast at heart, he enjoyed watching college and professional football, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide and Philadelphia Eagles. He and Patricia often spent time in Atlantic City or taking in a Broadway show in New York. Raymond kept meticulous care of his yard and was an avid vegetable and fruit gardener.  

Above all else, Raymond was a family man. On May 18, 1963, he married the love of his life, Patricia A. Hines. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, remaining devoted to one another until her passing on April 1, 2016. As a father, he offered decades of wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support to his children. His family will forever cherish the life lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the comfort of his presence. He was the true cornerstone of his family, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.

He is survived by his loving children, Raymond J. Giordano and his wife, Kara A. Blasco of Point Pleasant, NJ, and Tricia A. Giordano of Flemington NJ; his cherished grandson, Patrick M. Giordano; and his sister, Rose Weil of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by a wide circle of extended family and friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia A. Giordano; his parents, Raymond and Filomena Giordano; and his two dear brothers, Louis Giordano and Nicholas Giordano.

Funeral services will be private. Raymond will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin, New Jersey.

A ceremony honoring Raymond's incredible life and legacy will be scheduled at a later date.
