Ralph Anthony Vanacore

Ralph Anthony Vanacore, age 89, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born December 2, 1926 in Manhattan, New York, Ralph was the son of the late Anthony and Grace (Manderino) Vanacore. He lived on Long Island, New York most of his life, primarily in Massapequa and then Orient NY, for many years before moving to the Flemington area in 2006.

He was a purchasing agent with Reigel Paper Corp. for 25 years, before retiring from Asarco, Inc. where he worked for an additional 15 years.

Ralph loved baseball, stickball, softball, and coaching Little League, as well as spending time at Jones Beach on Long Island. After his beloved NY Giants moved to San Francisco, he became a proud New York Mets fan. However, the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents and his wife of 54 years, Julia T. Vanacore, Ralph is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Mary Vanacore of Ringoes NJ, and Douglas and Cheryl Vanacore of Forest Hills NY, his grandsons, Christopher, Daniel and Robert Vanacore, his sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Michael Fassula of Hauppauge NY, his niece, Anna Maria Chojnacki, and his nephew, Michael Fassula.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington NJ, officiated by the Rev. Timothy Christy. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington. Viewing will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ralph’s name may be made to Briteside Adult Day Center, 16 Sand Hill Road, Flemington, NJ 08822.
