Preston Robert Hoagland, 66, died at his home in Pittstown, NJ on Thursday evening, March 5, 2026.
If he was asked what he would want written here, he would simply say he was “a man from Pittstown”, but that masked so much more of who this great man was...
He was a father, a husband, a true friend to those who knew him, a patriot, a farmer, a vehicle enthusiast, a Free and Accepted Mason, a man who was the life of the party, and could have passed as a conservative comedian causing everyone around him to laugh at his jokes and dry sense of humor. He enjoyed telling stories of his youth and lessons learned from previous generations to those who would listen; his wise advice was unmatched.
Preston was born in Raritan Township, NJ in 1959, and resided in the Pittstown area all his life. He was the son of the late Charles Hoagland and Margaret (Lenz) Hoagland.
He was a graduate of Delaware Valley High School, a member of Host Lodge #4 F & AM, of High Bridge, the AA Scottish Rite, and the Crescent Temple Shrine.
For many years he was employed by Tewksbury Township, NJ as a maintenance and repair mechanic, before becoming a self-employed mechanic.
He enjoyed farming and loved farm equipment and machinery. For many years he was a participant in tractor pull competitions, loved target practice, and old western movies.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Theodore Hoagland, in 1991.
He is survived by his only son, Charles G. Hoagland, of Crystal River, FL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment in the family plot will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will take place Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
