Patricia Ann Bernosky passed away peacefully in the town she long called home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. She had moved to Flemington, New Jersey with her husband almost six decades earlier to help him in his career as an airline pilot, raise their family, and enjoy the pleasures of small town life. She was 90 when she left this earth.
Patricia, or Pat as so many called her, was born in the city of Philadelphia on September 28, 1934, the youngest of four children. She loved her brothers fiercely, suffering through the anxiety of Robert and Joe shipping off to serve in World War Two - and the anguish of hanging a Silver Star in the window with her mother when they heard Bobby was injured - soon followed by the news he had died.
She attended Saint John the Baptist High School, and being Irish through and through, she took the patron saint of Ireland for her confirmation: Saint Bridget. Her high school yearbook called Patricia “dependable, an all around pal who liked sleeping, skating, and buying new clothes. A small girl with a big heart.”
Like so many women of her time, after graduation she learned a trade, made her mark as a dedicated secretary, and then her big heart collided with love and a bright future. Raymond E. Bernosky was a Navy man and after their courtship she drove her red convertible all the way to Florida for a quick wedding and honeymoon in New Orleans - forever joking afterward that the car was her dowry. As happens with almost all military families, Pat and Ray traveled from place to place - Texas, California, Alaska (where they survived the great earthquake of 1964) and more - and at every stop she embraced her new life with an open heart.
They had three children who, in turn, brought five grandchildren and a great-grandson into Pat and Ray’s lives. Decades ago, they bought a summer home on the Great Sacandaga Lake in upstate New York, and nothing pleased Pat more than visits by her family - watching them waterski, play games, and roast marshmallows over a bonfire. Many mornings, she could be found with a cup of coffee, sitting on the patio watching the sun rise over the water.
In her younger days, Pat was an active member of the Jinglers Social Group, where she fostered friendship and camaraderie. She and Ray traveled the world, always with her ready sense of humor packed for the journey. She followed the news avidly, liked old music, and was by far the best bridge player in the family. Each year she would spend time at the shore with her friends, shuffling cards, dealing hands, and turning up great memories time and again.
She and Raymond were married for 68 years, and he survives her. She also leaves behind three devoted children: Linda Foreman and her husband Tom, Kenneth Bernosky, and Lisa Alexander and her husband Jim. Known fondly as "Grandma B" to her grandchildren, she is additionally survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, who have welcomed her into eternal rest.
A private Catholic mass and interment will be held for the immediate family.
As we reflect on Patricia's life, we remember a woman who embraced every moment with love and laughter, making her family and friends feel special and cherished. We know she will remain in the hearts of many, just as they remained in hers over all the years.
