Marvin Robert Salerno

December 17, 1938 — July 15, 2025

Flemington, NJ

Marvin Robert Salerno, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, New Jersey. He was born on December 17, 1938, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While Marv was born in Scranton his home was here in the Flemington area where he was well known by many of the residents and merchants in the area. Marvin lived a life filled with purpose, passion, and generosity, notably as a crew foreman and supervisor for Asplundh Tree Service, where he contributed his expertise with unwavering commitment for over forty years.

A proud longtime member of Our Lady of Victories Parish in Baptistown, New Jersey, Marv’s faith was deeply rooted by his Slovak and Italian heritage.  His passions extended beyond his professional life; he was an avid hunter and fisher who cherished the tranquility of nature. Marvin also found joy in social gatherings, often seen playing poker and Pinochle with friends. He had an appreciation for good food and often dined at favorite local establishments such as the Flemington Diner, Longhorn Steakhouse, and Marinelli's, where he forged numerous lasting friendships.  But he always said nobody made stuffed cabbage like his wife Bobby!

Marvin had a great love for automobiles and was a diehard New York Giants fan, proudly supporting his team through thick and thin. His enthusiasm for life and the Giants touched everyone around him, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Marvin is survived by his brother, Marlin Salerno of Scranton, PA, and an extended family of in-laws, including Allen and Linda Timko, James and Mary Passerello, and John and Eileen Timko, all residing close by in the Flemington area.  He leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews including twin grand nieces whom he loved to spoil.

He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Barbara Anne Salerno (Bobby) who passed away in 2021. Marvin’s spirit and memories will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share their lives with him.
