Marilyn J. Dvoor passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, with her children and grandchildren by her side at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ.
She was born February 24, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey.
Loving and devoted mother, Marilyn is survived by her daughter Deborah Hylton, son-in-law Alan, son Robert Dvoor, daughter-in-law Sandra, grandchildren Ariel Hylton, Jacob Dvoor and Jacqueline Dvoor, nieces, and cousins.
On May 20, 1956, Marilyn married Melvin Dvoor and together they made their home in Flemington, NJ where they lovingly and happily raised their children. Marilyn and Melvin were married 61 years.
She graduated from Trenton High School and attended New Jersey State Teachers College at Trenton.
Marilyn devoted her time to raising her daughter and son. She was active in PTA as a classroom mom and during many other school and extracurricular activities. For many years, she was a cafeteria assistant for the Flemington-Raritan School District and a poll worker for Hunterdon County. She was a member of the Flemington Woman’s Club and active sisterhood board member for many years at the Flemington Jewish Community Center. There, she received the honor of Sisterhood Mother of the Year for her many years of devoted service.
Marilyn lovingly adored her children and grandchildren. She cherished her many friends.
A woman of valor, Marilyn will be deeply missed.
Marilyn is predeceased by her beloved parents, Fannie Finkle Hayfer and Joseph Carl Hayfer, and her beloved husband Melvin Dvoor.
Thank you to all the staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset who so carefully and beautifully cared for Marilyn. Their care was exceptional.
Funeral services, officiated by Rabbi Eli Kornfeld, will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Graveside services and interment alongside her husband will follow in the Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery, 61 Capner Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Calling hour will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
