Margaret “Peggy” Josephine Tettemer, age 85 years, a long-time resident of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Holland Township, NJ. Born on August 28, 1940, in Somerville, NJ, Peggy was the daughter of the late Frederick and Josephine (Nelson) Gunther.
Peggy had many jobs throughout her lifetime, spanning childcare and even cleanroom technician for a computer chipmaker, but no job was more important to her than that of mother and grandmother. She spent much of her time taking care of her family and cherished her grandchildren more than anything. She was known for her vibrant personality—an outgoing, kind individual who loved to engage with others and possessed the "gift of gab." She connected with people easily and was sure to share a thoughtful story for any occasion. Her ability to connect with people was a fundamental part of who she was, making her a beloved friend to many.
Peggy had a magical knack for finding four-leaf clovers, and she would give them to friends and loved ones. She would also crochet, generously creating and gifting blankets that brought comfort and warmth to family and friends over the years. One of her favorite things to do was vacationing on Lake Seymour in Morgan, Vermont, reflecting her love of nature and cherished memories with friends up there.
Family was the cornerstone of Peggy’s life. She was proud and grateful to have been able to care for and spend quality time with all six of her grandchildren—Zoe, Andi, Zac, Alexa, Ava, and Draven—which she counted among her highest blessings. She is survived by her three daughters: Peggy Rischawy and her husband Jonathan, of Flemington, NJ; JoAnn Sweeney, of Holland Township, NJ; and Julia Zanetti and her fiancé Justin Anchinsko, also of Flemington, NJ. Additionally, Margaret is survived by her three siblings: Shirley Hastings of Stockton, NJ; Alice Strawser of Lebanon, NJ; and John Gunther of Hillsborough, NJ; as well as William Tettemer of Stockton, NJ, and several extended family members who remember her fondly.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, George Gregory Zanetti, who passed away in 1992, her brother Frederick Gunther, and her parents. Their memories remain an integral part of her legacy.
