Lynn C. Butkus, born October 21, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, in Flemington, New Jersey. She was a dedicated and passionate school librarian at Hopewell Elementary School in Hopewell Borough, NJ for 31 years, where she inspired countless young minds with her love of reading and knowledge.  Lynn also became a NJEA Rep, working with teachers in the district, going to workshop and meeting for several years.

Lynn's family moved to Queens, New York City, in 1957, then to Youngstown, NY in 1960. The family settled in Manalapan, NJ, in 1962. where she grew up from age 11 on. She was a proud graduate of Freehold High School in Freehold, NJ. Lynn went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Library Science from the former Trenton State College, now known as The College of New Jersey. Her commitment to education and nurturing literacy was evident throughout her career and in her personal life.

Lynn was widely remembered for her zest for reading, being an active member of several online book clubs where she shared her enthusiasm and insights with fellow bibliophiles. Among her fondest pastimes were the day-trips she enjoyed taking with her husband, Michael, creating cherished memories along the way.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael P. Butkus; their son, Bruce M. Butkus, and daughter-in-law, Kristin Castenschiold, of Green Village, NJ; and her grandson, Dylan Butkus. Lynn also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Bill Chalmers and Eileen Lukenda, and her sister and brother-in-law, Terri Chalmers and Stuart Field.

Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lester and Ethel (Weston) Chalmers, and her brother, Lester Chalmers, II.
