Lucille Ann (Yeager) Hranj, beloved wife of Pete, entered into eternal rest on July 7, 2025, at the age of 99. She formerly lived in Rahway, and New Egypt, NJ, but resided in Hunterdon County for the last decade.
Lulu/Lucy was born in 1925 to the late Mary (Kalafut) and Andrew Yeager of Duryea, PA. She was one of twelve children. The family relocated to Elizabeth, NJ, where she would later meet her husband, Pete, and become step mom to his sons, Albert and Edward. Together, they welcomed two more sons, Peter and Paul, and moved to Rahway, NJ, where they'd raise their family. She worked for many years for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 464A, as a butcher. They were members of the Deutscher Club in Clark, NJ, and parishioners at St. Marks Church in Rahway.
Lucy loved bowling, bingo, scratch-offs and enjoying a cup of coffee, while shooting the breeze, with her many close friends. On weekends and holidays, you would find Lucy in the kitchen preparing soups and traditional dishes like pierogi, haluski and poppy seed and nut rolls. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her sons, their wives and her grandchildren, who she adored and who brought her so much pride.
She was predeceased by her husband, Pete, their son, Paul, and stepson, Albert, along with her siblings, Mary, Theresa, Agnes, Margaret, Nana, Joseph, Bernard and Eddie.
She is survived by her son, Peter, and his wife, Lee Ann, daughter-in-law, Vicki; stepson, Edward, grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher, Kayla, Kevin, Tina and Rebecca Hranj. In addition, she leaves behind siblings, Patricia Slurff, Eleanor Sweet and Andrew Yeager.
Until the end, she was a fiercely independent woman, always willing to share her colorful opinion and insight from her many life experiences. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her, including her caregiver and friend, Kathy Kushner, who provided kindness, support and laughter for many years.
