Konrad M. Szierer, born on April 11, 1946, in Bonya, Hungary, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, in Plainsboro, New Jersey. With profound respect, we honor the life and memory of a man whose journey touched so many—through his dedication to faith, family, and his country.

Konrad’s life began in the picturesque surroundings of Bonya, Hungary, the beloved son of Henry Szierer and Karolina Ferber, both of whom have preceded him in passing. His early years were marked by a spirit of resilience and purpose, qualities that would shape his life’s many endeavors.

A true patriot, Konrad answered the call of his adopted homeland, serving proudly as a Marine during the Vietnam War. His commitment and courage during those tumultuous times exemplified the depth of his character—marked by sacrifice and devotion to the ideals he held dear.

Following his military service, Konrad answered a higher calling and devoted his life to ministry. Beginning in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1972, he faithfully served congregations in Edmonton and Port Colborne, Canada before becoming the beloved pastor of Flemington Assembly of God in Flemington, New Jersey, where he ministered until his retirement in 2023. His compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith inspired all who came to know him. Congregants and friends alike found in him not only a dedicated leader but a steadfast friend and confidant.

Above all else, Konrad cherished his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost fifty-six years, Gudrun Szierer, with whom he built a loving and supportive partnership. Together they raised a family anchored in love and shared values: his son, Mark (Danielle) Szierer, and daughters, Michele (Richard) Matthey and Christie (Jonathan) Rhoads. Their lives are a testament to the legacy he leaves—a legacy further carried forward by his grandchildren: Jazley Szierer, Marli Szierer, Luciana Szierer, Judah Rhoads, Levi Rhoads, Asher Rhoads, Crosby Rhoads, Eliana Matthey, and Alina Matthey. Each grandchild was a source of immense pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Konrad’s impact stretches far beyond the walls of his church and the boundaries of his family. He lived a life rich with purpose, guided by the principles of faith, service, and compassion. The strength of his convictions, the warmth of his heart, and the integrity of his actions remain enduring gifts to all who were privileged to know him.

Although he will be deeply missed, Konrad’s legacy is one of steadfast love and unwavering faith—a legacy lovingly upheld by his surviving family and all whose lives he touched.

Services will be held privately under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
