Ringoes, NJ

Kathryn H. Martin (Kathy) born on October 12, 1948, in Norwich, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, New Jersey. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and a profound love for music and education.

After graduating from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in music education and as an accomplished pianist and french horn player, Kathy worked as a music teacher until starting a family of her own in 1974. She was a dedicated stay at home mom, often volunteering her time and talents to play piano for school musicals and events. Music was a cornerstone of family life, and Kathy provided many opportunities for her children to explore their own musical interests through various instruments, lessons and musical theater. Kathy’s passion for music was obvious throughout her life. She played french horn for the Danbury symphony for many years, taught piano to friend’s children in her home, and loved musicals.

Later in life, Kathy embarked on a career in dentistry as a dental orthodontic assistant, achieving certifications and working in this field until her retirement. Her expertise shone brightly, leaving a lasting impact on those she encountered in both her professional and personal life.

Family was at the heart of Kathy’s life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Alain Martin, her daughter Dr. Amy Martin (husband Michael McPharlin), her son Todd Martin (wife Mary Cashman), and her cherished grandchildren, Maggie McPharlin, William McPharlin, and Andrew Martin. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Cynthia (Dee) Hilton and her brothers Tom Hilton and James Hilton. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Hilton and Olive Horton Hilton.

Kathy will be remembered not only for her contributions to music and education but also for her love for her family and dear friends . She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
