Kathleen Carroll passed away on February 17, 2026 at the age of 94, thus ending her 22 year stay at Independence Manor in Flemington.
Born to Mary Towhey Carroll and Patrick Joseph Carroll in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Kathleen remained a resident of Pawtucket for most of her life. In 2004 She relocated to New Jersey following a 32-year teaching career in the Pawtucket, RI school system.
Kathleen attended St. Mary's School and Pawtucket West High School. She earned a teaching degree from Rhode Island School of Education in 1955 and a master’s degree in special education from Rhode Island College. She engaged in studies at Boston College and Providence College.
Kathleen stood by her beliefs with unwavering conviction and was always sympathetic to those in need. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, enjoyed travel and literature, and cheered for the Boston Red Sox. "Aunt Kathy" never failed to remember the special occasions celebrated by each and every one of her 11 nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was a member of the Pawtucket Teacher’s Association, the Blackstone Valley Retired Teachers, the Pawtucket Library Association, the Slater Mill Association and a 25 year member of the Legion of Mary. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels and the Pawtucket Animal Shelter for more than a decade.
Predeceased by her sister Mary Patricia (Carroll) Kunkel, one niece, Sally Luke, and one nephew, Charles Kunkel, Kathleen is survived by five nieces and four nephews.
A mass will be said at St. Magdalen de Pazzi church in Flemington, N.J. on March 7th at 10am. Kathleen will be interred at the Mount Saint Mary Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI following a service at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Pawtucket, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guest House, 1601 Joslyn Road, P.O. Box 36, Lake Orion, MI 48360 or to the food bank at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Church in Flemington, NJ.
Services are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
