John T. Monahan, age 77 years, of Three Bridges, NJ, died Monday, August 8, 2022, as a result of injuries, due to an auto accident in Raritan Township, NJ on August 8th.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, December 13, 1944, son of the late John and Mary Agnes Kehoe Monahan, John had formerly resided in Shrewsbury, NJ for six years before moving to Three Bridges in 1979.
A graduate of Manhattan College, he received his law degree from Seton Hall University. He also was a deacon at Our Lady of Victories Church, Baptistown, NJ since 1989, after which he received a master’s degree from Seton Hall University in Judeo Christian Studies.
He retired as Assistant Bureau Chief of the Dept. of Community Affairs of the State of New Jersey.
In addition to his work as a deacon in Our Lady of Victories Church, he enjoyed poultry farming and was an avid photographer. In fact, he taught photography and business law at Mercer County Community College.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years, Mary Ellen Henry Monahan; three daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Winberry of Flemington, NJ, Belinda Monahan, OSB, of Chicago, IL, and Sara Monahan of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Belinda Monahan of Staten Island, NY, Kathleen O’Brien of Florida and Sheila Monahan of Staten Island, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Victories Church, Baptistown, NJ. Rev. Kris Kaczynski and Msgr. David Fulton will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday, August 12, 2022, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victories Church Route 519, Baptistown, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
