Born in Pennsylvania on May 13, 1884, he was the son of the late Charles Elgard and Margaret Sheets.

He was predeceased by his wife, M. Emma (Cronce) Elgard, who died in 1961.

Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ.
