John J. Zullo, age 100 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Hunterdon Care Center.
Born in Astoria, NY, September 20, 1921, son of the late Fred and Pasqua Dellolio Zullo, John had resided in the Flemington area since 1970 moving here from Naperville, Illinois.
He received his B.S and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University. A chemical engineer, John was employed by Stauffer Chemicals, Niagara Falls, NY, then by Tenneco Corp for five years, Rexall Chemical, in Illinois and lastly by Union Carbide Corp until retiring.
John was a veteran of World War 2 serving as a US Navy Radar Technician in the South Pacific.
John was a longtime member of the Flemington Rotary Club and a member of Flemington American Post #159. He was also active for over twenty years with the Hunterdon Office On Aging assisting many senior citizens with their yearly tax returns and other financial matters.
John was constantly tinkering, loved the NY Yankees and gardening as well as traveling. An active alumnus of Columbia University, he assisted its Admission Office interviewing prospective high school applicants.
His beloved wife of over seventy years, Betty Silvey Zullo, died in 2020 and a son, Fred Zullo, died in 1972. Surviving are a daughter, Rosemary (Jeffrey) Randolph of Morris Plains, NJ; two sons, John R. (Kathleen) Zullo and Robert (Antoinette) Zullo of Flemington, NJ; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Saturday, July 23, 2022, 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Committal will follow with military honors at St. Magdalen Mausoleum, N. Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
