Born November 22, 1954, in Westwood NJ, John was the son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Van Der Linde) Paulsen, Jr. In New Jersey, he lived at different times in his life in Basking Ridge, Mountainside, Flemington and Mendham Township, as well as in Delray Beach in Florida.
John received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Montclair University, and later, his MBA from New York University.
John began his professional career in Finance with CitiBank in New York, eventually working for JP Morgan-Chase Bank, Ernst & Young, and Manufacturers Hanover before starting his own financial services company, ASI Financial Services. John loved to ride motorcycles with his friends and especially his son, John Jr., often for Bike Week in Laconia NH and Daytona Beach FL, as well as many cross-country trips to various parts of the country. He owned many boats through the years, loved to fish, and flew model airplanes with his son and father. Some of his favorite places to visit were the many trips to DisneyWorld in Florida, Hilton Head SC and, most recently, a memorable trip to Ireland with long-time companion, Pauline Aubin.
While John was a professional and entrepreneur, he clearly lived to spend time with his children. He will be missed for many things including his passion for sending and receiving greeting cards, as well as the many thoughtful and personalized gifts that he was famous for.
