John C. DiMaio

John C. DiMaio, age 87 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Flemington, New Jersey. Born on May 21, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Stefano and Carmela (Capobianco) DiMaio.

As a young man, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud veteran.

John devoted over 50 years of his life to constructing the masonry of high-rise buildings throughout New York City, where he served as both a union laborer and foreman.

His commitment to excellence extended beyond the workplace into his personal pursuits. An ardent gun advocate and member of the National Rifle Association, he took great pleasure in target shooting and attending gun shows, which became cherished hobbies.

In pursuit of a fulfilling family life, John moved from Brooklyn to New Jersey, where he raised his family. After spending some years in Florida during his retirement, he returned to New Jersey two years ago to be closer to his loved ones. He was married to his wife, Joan (Nocella) DiMaio, for nearly 64 years, having tied the knot on July 29, 1961. Together, they nurtured a loving family.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Joan; his daughter, Carmelann Hollender, and her husband, John Tackett, Jr.; his son, Michael DiMaio; as well as his grandchildren, Steven John Hollender and his wife, Lorianne Hollender, and James Peter Hollender, and his fiancé, Kristen Grotts and her daughter, Addisin Grotts.

The visitation and funeral service for John C. DiMaio will be held at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, located at 147 Main St, Flemington, NJ. The visitation will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM, followed by the funeral service, which will commence at 3:45 PM and conclude at 4:15 PM. Interment will be private.
