Born in Cherryville, NJ on March 9, 1867, he was the son of the late Gershom McPherson and Margaret Buchanan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Martha (Schutts) McPherson, who died in 1935.

Interment in Cherryville Mountain View Cemetery, Cherryville Road, Flemington, NJ.
