Jean Kohut Wilson, age 82 years, of Edison, NJ, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at her home.
Born February 13, 1923 in New York City, NY to the late John and Nellie Krywutsky Kohut, she moved to Toronto, Canada in 1940 upon her marriage to Walter Wilson. He died in 1994.
She enjoyed traveling, having gone as far as Australia and particularly favoring excursions to Hollywood, Fla. and Myrtle Beach, S.C. with family and friends. She was a life-long Yankees fan, avid reader and old movie buff. She had a keen sense of fashion and enjoyed cooking.
She worked while raising her family, first at Vicroy in Canada. She returned with her family to New York City in 1952, moving to Edison two years later and taking a job with Westinghouse, where she also served as her union's secretary and treasurer. She later worked for Regina Corporation in Rahway and weekends staffed the patient information desk at Middlesex Hospital in New Brunswick, staying there when it became Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.
Her brother Walter Kohut died in 2004. Her son Peter Wilson, who had lived with her, died in February. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Bill Kiriluk of West Amwell Township, NJ and Joanne and Tony Vershousky of Palmer Township, PA; two grandchildren and their spouses, Renee Kiriluk-Hill and David Hill of Delaware Township, NJ and Mark and Janine Kiriluk of Lumberton, NJ; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alexander Hill and Anna and Matthew Kiriluk.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church, Seymour Avenue, Edison, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
