Jean Taylor Polacsek, age 97, of Quakertown NJ died peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2026 at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Forks Township PA.
Born on Long Island NY on January 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Cyril W. Taylor and Magdalena Tuffli Taylor. She had two brothers; the late Edmund Taylor and the late Lawrence Taylor. Jean is survived by one sister, Cyrilla Ogle of North Carolina.
When Jean was fifteen years old, she moved with her family to Croton in Hunterdon County and graduated from Flemington High School.
Jean was one of the painters at Stangl Pottery in Flemington, where she worked primarily on painting their ceramic bird collection that are signed by each artist.
Jean was the devoted wife of 74 years of the late Frederick Polacsek. They were married on January 8, 1949, and she always said that she married her war hero. They built their life together in Quakertown NJ, where she worked alongside her husband in their family cemetery monument business: Quaker Memorial Works for 40 years.
Jean was also a long-time member of the Quakertown United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Jean was known for her many creative hobbies and artistic pursuits. She enjoyed sewing in her younger years, making dresses for her young daughters. She loved knitting, embroidery, and gardening. Her favorite hobby was painting, She created many beautiful pieces of art and was involved in the Hunterdon Senior Center Art Show for many years receiving many awards for her work.
Jean was the proud mother of two daughters; Ellen Powers of Annandale NJ and Donna Taylor of Quakertown NJ, as well as six beloved grandchildren; Brian Powers (Francis), Kevin Powers (Allissa), Courtney Gentile (Peter), Carrie Schillaci (Rich), Kristen Schillaci (Amanda), and Heather Schillaci, and five great-grandchildren.
Those that knew and loved her will always remember her warmth, kindness and beautiful smile. She was a sweet soul and we have all lost a beautiful, caring and special presence in our lives.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Joan Palmer, will begin at 1:30 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the family plot in Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown NJ.
