Our beautiful daughter, sister, wife and friend passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York on August 9th around 1 o’clock. This is a very sad time for all of us and we grieve her loss deeply.
Jean was born September 1, 1958, in Waterloo, Iowa. She was the third daughter of four girls born from John and Norma Hiemstra. As a family we moved to New Jersey in 1965. Jean grew up in New Jersey, but the family spent the summers in Oskaloosa on her grandparents’ farms. Jean loved the farm and there are so many special memories from those times.
Jean attended and graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, New Jersey in 1976. She continued her education at Trenton State College (College of New Jersey) and graduated with a Degree in Education.
As a young adult she moved to West Nyack, New York and met her soon to be husband and love of her life, Peter Euler.
On July 10th, 1993, they were united in marriage at the Clarkstown Reformed Church. They resided in Pearl River, New York. A Home that she filled with love.
Jean pursued employment in administration within the educational system. Jean worked at Rockland Boces in West Nyack. She was a dedicated and faithful employee until her retirement in 2020.
Jean was a giving and nurturing person and was always willing to help. She put love into everything that she did. We will always remember the care she provided for her parents. Throughout her life, Jean helped take care of her elderly parents who lived just a few miles away. She was always there for them.
Jean will be greatly missed today, tomorrow, and always.
Surviving family members are: her husband, Peter Euler of Pearl River, New York, her parents, John and Norma Hiemstra of West Nyack, New York, her sisters, Ruth Gosdick (brother in law Paul) of Frenchtown, New Jersey and Nancy Cook (brother in law Peter) of Charlotte, North Carolina, her brother-in-laws, Rich Euler, David Euler of Florida and Steven Euler of Colorado. Jean also has many nieces and nephews who are still surviving.
She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Carol Ann Hiemstra Snook, who died in 1986.
