James J. Casey, age 87 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Oradell, NJ, February 22, 1936, he was the son of the late James and Claire (McNally) Casey. He grew up in New Milford, NJ, and had also previously resided in New Kensington, PA and Old Bridge, NJ before moving to Flemington in the late 1960’s.
After graduating from Stevens Institute of Technology, he went on to establish the Minalex Corporation, Whitehouse Station, NJ in 1965. A workaholic, he actively ran the family business until his health began to fail.
James was also a part of many local organizations for the betterment of the community. This included the local Knights of Columbus, the Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program, the Flemington Falcons, and the Flemington-Raritan Sports Coalition to name a few. Above all, his family will remember him as someone who always “put family first”.
He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-two years, the late Barbara K. Casey, who died in 2018. Surviving are his children and their spouses: Vicki Casey (Kenny), Michael Casey (Michele), Susan Scheier (John), Chris Casey (Tracie), Donaly Bass (late husband Chuck), and Mike Berner; nine grandchildren: Jewelia, Robbie, Joey, Lily, Johnny, David, Jimmy, Shelby, and Lianna; as well as four great-grandchildren: Audrey, Kalman, Avery, and Riley. Additionally, he is survived by the entire Minalex Family and his caretaker, Rahab Waitheru, who took great care of him each day.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 9:45 AM in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ followed by private cremation. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4-7PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment with his late wife will also be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ.
The repast will be at The Riverside Inn - Neshanic, 102 Woodfern Road, Neshanic Station, NJ immediately following the funeral mass on Friday. Everyone attending mass is welcome to accompany the family for food and fellowship.
