Howard K. Riley, Jr., age 80 years, of Bedminster Township, NJ, passed away the evening of Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home.
Born in Washington, D.C., May 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Jean (Staples) and Howard K. Riley, Sr.
Howard grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and following high school, he joined the United States Navy. He served on active duty and the reserves for over thirty years, eventually earning the rank of Master Chief before his retirement.
He earned his undergraduate bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He then went on to have a successful career with the AT&T Corporation, where he worked for over thirty years in the sales & marketing division.
In his spare time, Howard enjoyed grilling, tennis and golf and was a member of the Country Club of Whispering Pines, NC and worked locally at Beaver Brook Country Club after his retirement. In addition, Howard was an avid football and baseball fan, rooting for the New York Yankees.
His family will remember his kindness and dry sense of humor, but above all, they will remember how well he took care of his family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, the late Carol Alice Riley, who died in 2001.
Surviving are his children, Patrick Riley, and his wife Maureen of Doylestown, PA, and Melissa Marie Riley of Flemington, NJ; his long-time friend and companion, Linda Paulhamus of Bedminster, NJ; Linda’s son, Ryan Paulhamus, his wife Lauren, and their two children Riordan and Emmett.
A visitation will take place from 3:30 - 4:30 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Amy E.S. Lincoln, will follow at 4:30 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard’s name may be made to Easterseals New Jersey, 241 Forsgate Drive, Jamesburg, NJ 08831.
