Henry R. Jenkinson, Jr., a beloved member of the Flemington, New Jersey community, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Overlook Hospital in Summit NJ.
Born on March 13, 1949, in Plainfield, New Jersey, he was the cherished son of the late Henry R. and Bernadette (Smith) Jenkinson Sr. Henry graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen in 1967 and furthered his education at Rutgers University, specializing in Horticulture. He devoted many years to his passion for growing flowers as a wholesale grower in Neshanic until his retirement ten years ago. His remarkable talent shone through in the breathtaking mums, vibrant spring flowers, and exceptional poinsettias he cultivated, making the world a more beautiful place.
Beyond his work with plants, Henry had a diverse range of interests. He found joy in doing crossword puzzles, reading about World War II, collecting stamps, and watching baseball as an avid Mets fan, rarely missing a game on television. His passion for nature extended to beekeeping, where he enjoyed raising Mason and Leafcutter bees. Known for his kindness, Henry was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, demonstrating a gracious heart that touched many lives.
Henry is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Margaret Jeanne Jenkinson (Landry); his daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Anthony C. Zellers of Hillsborough, NJ; his son David T. Knower of Ringoes, NJ; and his son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Tracy Jenkinson, III of Flemington, NJ. He also leaves behind three beloved grandsons, Anthony C. Zellers, Jr. of Hillsborough, NJ; Ryan Henry Jenkinson of Flemington, NJ; and Nelson Ortiz (Brianne) of Alpha, NJ. Additionally, Henry is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and James Grant; his niece, Laura and nephew, Maxwell of Landing, NJ, as well as his brother, Robert Jenkinson; his nephew, LB of Long Valley; and many cherished cousins.
