Harold C. Pyatt, age 96 years, of Croton, NJ (Delaware Township), died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Ocean University Medical Center, Brick, NJ.
Born in Croton, NJ, August 30, 1926, son of the late George and Annie Marsh Pyatt, Harold had resided in the Croton area all his life.
Harold was a rural mail carrier with the US Postal Service, Flemington, NJ until retiring. After retirement, he was employed by the County of Hunterdon and was in charge of Hunterdon County’s mail delivery system until retiring.
Harold was a US Navy veteran of World War 2 serving on LST boats. He was a member of Flemington VFW Post #7856; was a founding member of the Croton Rod & Gun Club and was a former President of the Delaware Township Board of Education.
Harold formerly played semi-pro baseball, was an avid fisherman and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His wife, Dolores Thompson Pyatt, died in 2021 and his daughters, Barbara Punderson and Sandra Karle died in 2015 and 2009 respectively.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Hall (husband Jack) of Flemington, NJ and Cathleen McCaughey (husband John) also of Flemington, NJ; seven grandchildren, Scot Punderson, James Punderson, Adriane Vail, Matthew Hall, Lucas Stryker, Kellen McCaughey and Brynna Genao; eleven great grandchildren, Collin Punderson, Samantha Punderson, Alexa Vail, Olivia Vail, Kaitlyn Punderson, Megan Punderson, Brody Stryker, Quinn Stryker, Antonio Genao, Leila Genao and Declan McCaughey; one sister, Mary Villani of Clinton, NJ and one brother, Eugene Pyatt of Clinton, NJ.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 1:30 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822, followed by interment with Military Honors at St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street in Flemington. Calling hours will be Sunday from 11:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
