Gerald A. Kanach

Gerald “Jerry” Kanach passed away peacefully at home on February 25th at the age of 82.  Jerry grew up on the family farm in the Reaville section of Ringoes. He graduated from Hunterdon Central High School where played football and he met his future wife, Joyce Hoffman, and the two married in 1964.

He was a lifelong dairy farmer until retiring “up on the hill” and then he became a caregiver to Joyce with whom he shared 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2014.

Jerry was known by many as a character, a jokester, a giver of strange nicknames, and “the man with the biggest hands I’ve ever seen.” He loved hunting, snowmobiling, and floating in his pool.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents Joseph and Stella Kanach, and his brothers Jack, Julian, and Tom.

Jerry is survived by his sisters, Joan Alles and Janet Bosshard, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his son Keith and “favorite daughter-in-law,” Susan, grandchildren, Claire Rosenzweig and husband Nick, Ryan Corley and Matt Corley, and great grandchildren Carter and Kate Rosenzweig. He is also survived by his daughter Suellen Frederick and husband Mike and grandchildren Sara, John, Trace, and Paige.

Jerry is also survived by longtime caregiver and friend Blannette “Barbara” Cole.

Visitation for Jerry will be from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St. Flemington NJ. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 officiated by the Rev. Chris Ryan. Interment will be private.
