George Philip Wene, age 84 years, of Riegelsville, PA, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital - Warren Campus, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Easton, PA, July 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Philip and Eleanor (Leaver) Wean.
He was a proud New Jersey State Trooper, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class before his retirement. George's dedication to public service extended further, as he was also a proud United States Army veteran.
George spent many years as a long-time resident of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, before relocating to Riegelsville, Pennsylvania, eighteen years ago. His commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement in various organizations. He was a member of the American Legion Post 950 in Riegelsville, where he attended almost daily when able, as well as the Association of Former NJ State Troopers, the Quakertown Fire Company, and the Quakertown Recreation Club.
His family and friends cherished George's personality and deep love for his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pop" or "Oscar Pop." He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Mary L. (Kerr) Wene; his sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Vicki Wene, and Scott and Nanci Wene; four grandchildren, Kyle, Cheyenne, Trevor, and Chloe; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Rev. Dennis Wene; his sister, Mary Vish; and his step-children, Patricia White, Timothy Snyder, Chuck Cooper, Cindy Bridge, and Chris Cooper.
George was an avid motorcyclist with a passion for fixing old cars and trucks, pursuits that brought him great joy. His memory will be honored by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, E. June (Lawson) Wene, and his brother, Philip "Skip" Wene. George's legacy of service, devotion to family, and engaging spirit will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
