Francis J. Klein, age 98 years, passed away at home in Raritan Township, NJ, on Friday morning, September 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Trenton, NJ, March 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank P. and Veronica (Keating) Klein. He had formerly resided in Trenton, NJ for most of his life before building his home in Raritan Township, NJ in 1996.

After graduating high school, Frank served in the United States Navy from 1946-1949, before his honorable discharge. He then went on to become a successful building contractor, owning and operating Klein Builders in the Trenton, NJ area.

Throughout his life, Frank was a parishioner of both Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Hamilton, NJ and more recently Saint Magdalen de Pazzi Catholic Church in Flemington, NJ.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte Vana, and his beloved daughter, Patricia Ann Klein, whose life was taken aboard Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988. In fact, Frank was instrumental in the construction of the Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery honoring the 270 people who perished in the tragedy over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Surviving is his loving wife of 74 years, Marie (Makarick) Klein, of Flemington, NJ; his children and their spouses, Theresa Parker and her husband John, of Georgetown, SC, and Jeffrey Klein and his wife Jody, of Flemington, NJ; four grandchildren: James Klein and his wife Sarah, Jessica Klein, Timothy Parker and his wife Kass, and Eric Parker; as well as three great-grandchildren: Magnolia, T.J., and Owen.

A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father James DeFillipps, will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Saint Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. United States Navy military honors, rendered on the church grounds, will follow the mass. Interment will take place privately.
