Floyd A. Fleming, Sr. of Milford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 76. Born on April 4, 1949, in Milford, New Jersey, he was the son of Romulus and Virginia (Parker) Fleming. Floyd led a life filled with compassion, dedication, and a genuine regard for others.
Floyd's career was deeply rooted in public service. He retired after a distinguished tenure as a Game Warden with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, where he embodied the spirit of conservation. He also owned and operated Fleming Construction and Flemington Pool Maintenance & Supply, where his skills in construction were evident, contributing to both pool and residential home/commercial construction in the community. His talents extended beyond his professional life; he was a graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School, Class of 1968, where he showed great athleticism as he wrestled and played football. Floyd later dedicated many years to coaching his son Floyd's wrestling team at DelVal, inspiring and mentoring young athletes.
Floyd's passions included fishing and hunting, and he was known for his thrilling racing in Street Stock and Sportsman class dirt races at various local tracks, including Nazareth, Penn-Can and Flemington Speedway. He recently raced at New Egypt Speedway in the Rookie Sportsman Division. His enjoyment of life was reflected in his love of music, particularly the sounds of the 50s, 60s, and Old Country tunes, which brought him joy. He cherished long walks along Lake Nockamixon in Pennsylvania and the Family Walking Trail in Mount Pleasant, New Jersey with his beloved dog, Kaiah, taking in all the beauty of nature. Floyd also enjoyed time at the casino, where his love of Roulette was well known to those closest to him. Without fail, he would place 17 chips on the number 17 - his lucky number and a small ritual that reflected his optimism, confidence, and joy for life. Floyd's warmth and engaging personality enabled him to connect with anyone he met.
An active member of his community, Floyd devoted much of his retirement to assisting older and disabled veterans, showcasing his unwavering commitment to service. His volunteer work extended to the Special Olympics in New Jersey and included participation in the Flemington Speedway Historical Society, where he shared his lifelong passion for racing and community.
Floyd's proudest achievements include the significant impact he made in helping to build and operate Camp Isabel, a historical summer camp designed for children with special needs and those from underprivileged backgrounds in the Flemington area, ensuring that every child had the opportunity to experience the joys of summer.
