Etta Taylor

October 13, 1941 — February 15, 2026

Wilmette, IL

Etta Taylor, 84, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at her very new home in Wilmette, IL. Etta is survived by her sister, Rose McGowan, sons, Brian and Kevin and his wife, Kate and her daughter, Karen and her husband, Brian. She was the very proud grandmother to Hannah and her husband, Mike, Maggie, Hailey, Claudia, and Addie and her new great-grandson, Nolan. She was predeceased by her beautiful daughter, Lorraine, husband, Bill, sister, Ann and brother, Joseph.

Born in Queens, NY, to Henry and Rosalie (Whiteside) Golunka. Etta attended St. Vincent Ferrer in Manhattan and Hunter College. Her early life in New York is filled with fond memories of dances, enjoying food with her father and visiting her mother after school at Bloomingdales.

After marrying her first husband, Andrew O’Sullivan, they moved to New Jersey and had four children. She lived in Hunterdon County, NJ, where she made lifelong friends and enjoyed years of homemaking, a job she took great pride in. She also worked at the Tennis Center, where she organized an annual USTA tennis tournament. And once her children were older, she began a career in Public Relations with the Flemington Fur Company. She had the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people and attend countless social events, where she always shined.

When she wasn’t working, she loved playing tennis, golf, bridge, visiting with family and friends and striking up a conversation with just about anyone she came in contact with (which often made them a new friend and quickly added to her Christmas card list). Her later marriage to William (Bill) Taylor led them to a wonderful life in Hobe Sound, Florida, where they spent many days golfing, making more friends and trying out new places for lunch. More recently they moved to Jupiter, Florida, where sadly Bill passed away. In December 2025, Etta finally gave in and moved (while kicking and screaming) to be closer to Kevin and Karen just outside of Chicago.

A service will be held on Monday, May 11 at 11:00 am at Holcombe Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ and the burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington, NJ.
