Dorothy Irene Mydland Jones, aged 94, went home to be with her Lord on October 29, 2026 in Flemington, New Jersey. She was born on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, at home, on August 28, 1932. Her family loved music. Her father played violin and her mother played accordion and piano in a band. She was a professional singer and at 3 years old won a singing contest. As a devoted Christian, her life was a beautiful testament to her unwavering faith, her family, and her lifelong passion for song.
Her grace and poise were evident early in life when she was named 1st Runner-Up for Miss Wisconsin. She pursued her love of the arts at St. Olaf College, studying music and singing in their renowned choir. This laid the foundation for her life's calling as a music teacher, elementary school teacher, dedicated choir director, and professional singer, where she shared her God-given talents to inspire countless others and lead them in worship.
She was the cherished wife of Richard Lincoln Jones, and together they built a family rooted in love. She is deeply missed by her daughter, Alison; her three grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, and Brianna; and her sister, Alice. She was predeceased by her father, Jonas Mydland, her mother, Thelma Mydland, her sister Ruth Ann Rose, her daughter, Dorothy Lynn Alison Jones and her grandson, Lief. Her earthly voice may be quiet, but she is surely singing with the heavenly choir today. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be surely missed.
