Doris E. Snyder

April 3, 1926 — May 11, 2026

Reaville, NJ

Doris E. Snyder, a cherished lifelong resident of Reaville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 11, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ. She was 100 years old. Born on April 3, 1926, Doris was the daughter of the late Earle C. and Almeda (Kuhl) Pierce. Doris’s life was deeply rooted in the Hunterdon community she loved, having spent her entire life in the same farmhouse where she was born.

A 1943 graduate of Flemington High School, Doris dedicated much of her life to being a devoted homemaker and nurturing her children. Her upbringing on the family farm shaped her character and values; she cherished working on both the Pierce Farm and the Snyder Farm—now known as D&D Farm. Working hard on the farms was what she attributed to her longevity. Beyond farm life, as a young woman she found joy and fulfillment working at the Reaville General Store, once owned by the Kennedy family. It was there she met her husband, Dennis C. Snyder, beginning a lifelong partnership that lasted 59 years until his passing in 2009.

Doris was a woman of remarkable generosity—she was truly “a giver” until her dying day. Her love for farm life and the outdoors was evident in her avid gardening and fondness for flowers. An exceptional crocheter, she crafted beautiful afghans for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cherished friends, leaving behind tangible symbols of her care and warmth. Known for her sharp mind, she also enjoyed word find puzzles, and playing card games and dominos with friends and family. She also delighted in going out to eat with loved ones, treasuring the laughter, conversation, and simple joy of sharing meals together.

She took great pride in her membership at the Reaville Church and found comfort attending the Amwell Church of the Brethren alongside her daughter. Her faith and community were foundational to her sense of purpose and contentment.

Doris is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Charles Pierman of Kingwood Township, NJ; her devoted son and daughter-in-law, David and Diane Snyder of Holland Township, NJ; and six grandchildren: Charles Pierman III, Stephanie Coulombe (Robert), Michael Pierman (Virginia), Jamie Sloyer (Jigger Patel), Kristin Lebrato (Greg), and Dylan Corl. Her legacy continues through thirteen great-grandchildren: Charles IV, Sofia, Hailey, Pierce, Jake, Zach, Austin, Lily, Kelly, Jack, Tommy, Micah, and Isla, each a testament to the lasting impact of her life and love.

In addition to her husband, Doris was predeceased by her parents and several special cousins who held a cherished place in her heart.

Everyone loved Doris and valued her kindness and the sincere warmth with which she touched their lives. She leaves a profound legacy of love, commitment to family, and a deep connection to the land and community that shaped her extraordinary life.
