It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Doris Reddy, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world peacefully on July 9, 2026, at the age of 91. Doris was born on June 9, 1935, Somerset, New Jersey, to loving parents William and Dorothy Reddy. Her life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and love.
Doris grew up in Plainfield, where she graduated from Plainfield High School with a passion for learning and teaching. She pursued higher education at Trenton State College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, which prepared her for a fulfilling career in education. For 33 years, Doris devoted herself to teaching Language Arts at the middle school level in the Flemington-Raritan School District. Her commitment to her students and her love for teaching left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Even in retirement, her passion for education continued as she served on the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education for another nine years, shaping the future of the community she loved so dearly.
Beyond her professional achievements, Doris was a woman of and community involvement. She was a member of St. Magdalen's Roman Catholic Church, where she played a vital role in organizing, creating, and maintaining the altar boy schedule for many years.
Doris found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved planting flowers and took great pride in her beautiful historic home in Flemington, which was featured on the Tour of Homes. Her beach house, in Beach Haven, NJ. was a sanctuary where she loved spending time with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Doris was a true friend to many. Her friends were extremely important to her and valued them more than they know.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Mary and Gertrude, and her eldest son, Lawrence. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with her surviving children, Michael, Beth and her partner Joe, Tim and his wife Kathy. Her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild were the light of her life, and she adored every moment spent with them.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ, for their dedicated care and compassion in Doris's final years.
