Doris Halstead, age 89 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home.
Born in East Amwell Township, NJ, July 26, 1934, daughter of the late Norman and Kathryn Dilts Allegar, Doris was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County. She was a bookkeeper for Presco Foods, Flemington, NJ until she retired.
A 1952 graduate of Flemington High School, at the time of her death she was the oldest active member of the Three Bridges Reformed Church.
Doris was also a member of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928 and the East Amwell Senior Citizens for whom she arranged many of its’ club trips.
She was an avid NY Yankees fan and NY Giants fan, was active in the Flemington Fields Clubhouse activities and for many years, she and her friends enjoyed bus trips and cruises together.
Doris was pre-deceased by her husband, Richard Halstead, in 2006, her brother, James Allegar in 2007, her sister, Emma Drenkhahn, in 2014 and her nephew, Edward Drenkhahn in 2020.
Surviving are a brother, Charles Allegar of Clover Hill, NJ; two nieces, Heather Sanchez, of Branchburg, NJ and Sue Drenkhahn of Holland, MI and a nephew, Norman Allegar of Houston, TX.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Three Bridges Reformed Church, Main Street, Three Bridges, NJ with Rev. Ryan Nace officiating. Interment will follow in Three Bridges Cemetery.
