Dennis Michael O’Brien, age 72 years, of Ormond Beach, FL, former long-time NJ resident, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in AdventHealth Daytona Beach Hospital, Daytona Beach, FL.
Born in Plainfield, NJ on January 8, 1950, he was the son of the late John and Genevieve (DiSalvo) O’Brien. He had previously resided in Middlesex, NJ, Raritan, NJ, New Hampshire for a few years, and Flemington, NJ from 1986-2018, before moving to Florida.
As a young man after graduating high school, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving honorably during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. When he returned home, he began a career as a heavy equipment operator for Bridgewater Resources, Inc. (BRI) and Active Disposal, Inc. in Bridgewater, NJ.
He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, watching the races at the old Flemington Speedway, rooting for the New York Giants, and showing off his beloved dog, Nala. He was also a member of his local American Legion.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Joyce (Krachun) O’Brien, of Ormond Beach, FL; his daughter, Kelly and her husband Scott Williamson, of Flemington, NJ and his son, Andrew O’Brien, also of Flemington, NJ; his grandchildren, Gavin and Cole Williamson; as well as five siblings, Gary O’Brien and his wife Christine, of New York, NY, Maureen Kouril, of Florida, Timothy O’Brien, of Middlesex, NJ, Laurie Hazen and her husband Ron, of Bradley Gardens, NJ, and John O’Brien, of Georgia.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 4:00-7:30 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 9:30 AM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA. The public is asked to meet directly at the cemetery by 9:15 AM.
