Dayna Lee Cregar, age 57 years, of Pennsville Township, NJ, passed away on January 12, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Born on May 21, 1968, in Washington, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Barry E. and Patricia (Kries) Cregar. She had formerly resided in Ringoes, NJ, and Atlantic City, NJ prior to moving to Pennsville, NJ in 2008.
Dayna's educational journey began at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, from which she graduated in 1986. She furthered her studies at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, earning her degree and setting the foundation for a life dedicated to teaching. After college, Dayna enjoyed living in Atlantic City, NJ, where she was a card dealer for about eight years. In 2001, Dayna embarked on a fulfilling career at Salem High School in Salem, NJ, where she taught math for 17 years, inspiring countless students with her passion and abilities.
Beyond her professional life, Dayna was known for her gentle spirit and introverted nature. She found joy in the quieter aspects of life, often spending time at home reading Stephen King novels or enjoying episodes of Seinfeld, a series that truly resonated with her sense of humor. Dayna had a unique bond with her family, particularly with her nephew, Zachary Muller. Her love for him was evident in the time she dedicated to tutoring and nurturing his growth, leaving an indelible mark on his life.
Dayna was passionate about things that mattered to her such as civics and sports. This included her passion about the state of our country and her light-hearted rivalry with her father, an avid Mets fan, showcasing her spirited personality. Her loyalty to the New York Yankees was unwavering, and she celebrated each game with enthusiasm.
Dayna is lovingly remembered by her sister and brother-in-law, Denise (Cregar) and Tom Muller of Hamilton, NJ, along with her beloved nephew, Zachary Muller. Her family takes solace in the memories of her gentle nature, unwavering support, and the joy she brought into their lives.
In closing, please take the time to read the words of her sister...
"Cancer is such a vicious disease. It wreaks havoc on a person’s body, but in the case of Dayna, it didn’t affect her being. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, friend, good neighbor, loyal Yankees fan, Game of Thrones mega-fan, and a gentle soul. Her battle over the last 16 months took a lot out of her, but she persevered as long as she could. No matter how hard she had to fight, she made time to tutor Zach with his math homework. She could still laugh at random Seinfeld jokes, thoroughly discuss true crime documentaries with me and was passionate about the state of our country. These few examples are just a microcosm of the entirety of her life.”
