Dawn Louise Metz (nee Cline) passed away peacefully at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the age of 89.
She was born in Cleveland, OH on September 28, 1932. Dawn worked as a bookkeeper, receptionist and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She also enjoyed the arts and travel. She did make-up for Lakewood Little Theater, Lakewood, OH and the Haunted Mill in Vermilion, OH. She lived in many states around the U.S. and visited Germany, Austria, France, and the Netherlands.
Furthermore, she is remembered as small in stature and soft spoken but strong minded and fearless. She was an outstanding holiday cook and always provided a feast for the whole family. After dinner, a card game always ensued, moments her family will be forever grateful for. She was the epitome of grace. In the words of Mitch Albom, “Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
Above all, Dawn is remembered as a loving mother who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Orville E. Cline, II and her mother, Grace L. Cline (nee Boyle). She was also predeceased by her older brother, Orville E. Cline, III and younger sister, Diane L. Pohlman.
Surviving are Dawn’s four children, son Lieutenant Colonel, US Army (retired) Thomas F. Metz and wife Patricia M. Curtis; daughter Terri Anne L. Metz; son Theodore R. Metz and wife Diane O. Metz; and son Tyson A. Metz and wife Vanessa L. Metz. Dawn was Nana to three grandsons, four granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Dale Lorene Hinslea.
